Locks (3)
Miles Chamley-Watson (Penn State ... #1 seed/champion)
Alexander Mills (Princeton ... #2 seed/placed 3rd)
Nick Chinman (Penn State ... #6 seed/runner-up)
Likely Maintained Allocation Spot (1)
Dan Cohen (Duke ... #3 seed/placed 8th)
Vidur Kapur (Penn; #7 seed/placed 7th) Could Be Coach's Optiional Choice Likely Dropped Out of Allocation Contention MF Notes: Penn State might be able to select its second entrant, but it would seem unlikely for Chinman not to join Chamley-Watson as PSU's entrants in the NCAAs ... Penn entered the day with three of the top-7 seeds, but the Quakers may only qualify one men's foilist for the NCAAs.
Dorian Cohen (Duke; #10 seed/placed 5th)
Michael El-Saleh (Penn State; #9 seed/placed 4th)
Alex Simmons (Penn; #4 seed/placed 19th)
Zane Grodman (Penn; #5 seed/placed 12th)
Greg Kirschen (Princeton; #8 seed/placed 14th)
Locks (3)
James Moody (Penn State; #8 seed/champion)
Graham Wicas (Princeton; #1 seed/runner-up)
Maxwell Dettinger (Penn State; #6 seed/placed 4th)
Likely Maintained Allocation Spot (2)
Ben Wieder (Penn; #4 seed/placed 7th)
Cooper Gegan (Princeton; #2 seed/placed 9th)
Jonathan Parker (Duke; #10 seed/placed 5th)
Tristan Jones (Duke; #7 seed/placed 8th)
Mike Elfassy (Princeton; #16 seed/placed 3rd)
Could Be Coach's Optional Choice
Brian Heflich (Penn State; #11 seed/placed 6th)
Likely Dropped Out of Allocation Contention
Nat Sulat (Princeton; #3 seed/placed 19th)
Eric Hsieh (North Carolina; #5 seed/placed 13th)
ME Notes: Moody was on the bubble before claiming the Regional title and an automatic spot in the NCAAs ... with Dettinger also likely locking up a spot, Penn State now could be on track for sending the maximum 12 total fencers to the NCAAs ... even if Heflich falls within the allocation, it would seem likely that PSU would opt to sent Dettinger along with Moody as part of their NCAA contingent ... Elfassy is an interesting case study, as a fencer who impressively has overachieved during the past few weeks ... he was runner-up last week at the IFAs (behind former NCAA champ Benji Ungar, of Harvard) and likely would not even have been entered in the IFAs, if not for the absence of teammate Graham Wicas (Elfassy had to claim one of two spots out of the IFA's flight-C, before some impressive wins in the DE) ... if Elfassy somehow lands within the allocation, it would be interesting to see if the Princeton coaches send him to the NCAAs (rather than potential entrant Gegan) ... the Tigers actually entered the day with the top three seeds, but Nat Sulat (#3) had a disappointing 19th-place finish.
Jonathan Berkowsky (Penn; #2 seed/champion)
Aleksander Ochocki (Penn State; #1 seed/placed 4th)
Daniel Bak (Penn State; #4 seed/runner-up)
Andrew Bielen (Penn; #3 seed/placed 6th)
Likely Maintained Allocation Spot (1)
Bobby Ziechman (North Carolina; #5 seed/placed 7th)
Peter Truszkowski (Duke; #6 seed/placed 8th)
John Stogin (Princeton; #16 seed/placed 4th)
Could Be Coach's Optional Choice (2)
Robert Thompson (Penn State; #7 seed/placed 3rd)
Likely Dropped Out of Allocation Contention
Locky Stewart (Duke; #9 seed/placed 22nd)
Maxwell Wieder (Johns Hopkins; #10 seed/19th place)
Kevin Ziechmann (North Carolina; #11 seed/placed 13th)
MS Notes: The top six seeds likely secured spots in the NCAAs (Ochocki, Berkowsky, Bielen, Bak, Ziechman and Truszkowski) ... if Penn State and/or Penn place three fencers in the allocation, it's extremely unlikely they opt to send the lower-seeded fencer to the NCAAs.
