Following a lighter week of college fencing, CF360 has announced a group of weekly honorees that is fewer than usual. Ohio State junior women's sabre standout Allison Miller (Chicago, lll.) leads the way as the CF360 national fencer of the week for Feb. 27-March 3, 2012, as presented by CollegeFencing360.com. Miller headlines a group of four total honorees among the current CF360 Primetime Performers of the Week for college fencing. Haverford freshman men's foilist Max Findlay (Pittsburgh, Pa.) is the CF360 National Rookie of the Week honoree.

The Primetime Performer designation – awarded regularly on sister sites CollegeSports360, CollegeSoccer360 and CollegeBaseball360 – seeks to recognize achievement based primarily on situational factors, and not solely on raw stats. In most cases, contribution to team succcess is given priority over individual accomplishments. Selection for the CF360 weekly awards are based on any/all of the following "primetime" criteria:
• In general, preference is given based on the quality of the opponent, contribution to team success and situational factors involved in the fencer's accomplishments.
• Exhibited strong leadership and/or involved in clutch performances, match-winning bouts, noteworthy upsets, etc.
• Overcame adversity or extreme circumstances (for the team and/or individual).
• Bonus consideration is given for key performances away from team's home facility.

... Stepped forward in leading Irish men's sabre team to Midwest Fencing Conference title, which also ultimately helped the host team ND win the men's overall MFC title (senior foilist Enzo Castellani also played key role in ND men's title, leading foil squad to 1st-place finish) ... won all three of his bouts in that 5-3 final showdown vs. talented sabre trio from top-ranked Ohio State ... out match by edging Ewan Douglas, 5-4, and later won by same score vs. All-America veteran Max Stears (for 3-1 ND lead) ... capped the victory with comfortable 5-1 win vs. the other Douglas twin, Rhys (who the previous day had won the MFC individual sabre title) ... thrust into important leadership role for sabre squad that graduated pair of All-Americans (Avery Zuck and Barron Nydam) from the 2011 NCAA championship team ... went 5-0 (+17) in his MFC pool bouts but was seeded 10th into the direct elimination ... won 15-7 and 15-11 bouts to reach the round-of-16, where he began stretch of three straight bouts vs. OSU fencers: 15-11 win vs. Max Mogg, followed by thrilling quarterfinal vs. Ewan Douglas (15-14) and 15-10 semifinal vs. Rhys Douglas.

Rose to the challenge at the Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Associaiton (MACFA) championships in Madison, N.J., playing key role in Forms men winning MACFA title for third conseucitve year (bested rivales Drew and Stevens Tech, in 15-team field) ... went undefeated in the team competition while guiding his squad to the MACFA men's foil title –Haverford's only men's weapon title at the meet and its fiest MACFA men's foil crown in nearly 20 years (previously in 1983) ... also nearly won the MACFA men's foil individual title, with narrow loss to Drew's James Weiss in 15-13 final ... joined senior Andrew Bostick (epee medalist; member of 2nd-place epee team) as Haverford's team leaders during the MACFA competition.

Joined Notre Dame men's foilist Enzo Castellani as the only fencers to win Midwest Fencing Conference indvidual titles before guiding their respective weapons to MFC team titles ... cruised through her opening pool of the MFCs (held at ND), going 5-0 with a +23 total-points indicator to earn top seed in the direct-elimination ... rolled to 15-5, 15-8 wins in the DE before avoiding upset but of teammate Chelsea Martinez in 15-13 quartefinal ... went on to face two more OSU teammates, both 15-9 wins: talenteed newcomer Celina Merza and fellow All-American Margarita Tschomakova (a past NCAA semifinalist) ... won both of her bouts in 5-3 semifinal vs. sabre fencers from #8 Northwestern (5-2 vs. Chloe Grainger) and then went 2-1 vs. trio from #4 Notre Dame to deliver MFC team title, in 5-2 match (had clinching 5-1 win vs. Abby Nichols), helping secure MFC women's title and overall team championship for the Buckeyes ... her only loss of the weekend came 2-5 vs. ND junior and fellow All-American Lian Osier.

... Three-time NCAA qualifier and member of talented and experienced three-fencer women's foil squad for Northwestern, alongside fellow senior Camille Provencal-Dayle and junior All-American Dayana Sarkisova ... joined Sarkisova in winning two key bouts during Midwest Fencing Conference (MFC) women's foil final, as Wildcats edged strong foil squad from top-ranked Ohio State, 5-4 ... opened that match with 5-4 win over Nina Stackhouse and later delivered decisive 5-0 win over All-American Allison Henvick ... also was her lone bout in 5-0 semifinal vs. Purdue ... a day earlier in MFC individual compeition (also at ND's Joyce Center Fieldhous), she overall loss in pool round (4-1; +17) and resulting #11 seed to reach the semifinal round ... advanced through first two direct-elimination bouts (15-2; 15-9) before besting a pair of veterans from #4 Notre Dame: Darsie Malynn (11-10) and 2011 NCAA qualifier Rachel Beck (10-8) ... lost to Sarkisova in the MFC semifinal round ... part of foil squad that led the #8 Northwestern women to a runner-up MFC finish (the Wildcats women's epee team was runner-up, with Kate Cavanaugh, earlier winning the MFC women's epee title).
